County of Simcoe Replacement of Old Fort Road (County Road 58) Overhead Bridge Construction Update

County Road 58 Bridge Replacement
Old Fort Road (County Road 58) will be closed to traffic beginning on May 6, 2024, and will continue until June 3, 2024, to complete the bridge replacement project which includes completing the below works.
- Backfill
- Grading
- Landscaping, and
- Asphalt removal and repaving.
How will I get to My Residence or Business?
During this time the bridge will be temporarily closed to traffic. Alexman Contracting Inc. will schedule work to keep the road closure duration to a minimum. Local traffic to homes and properties will be maintained throughout the construction period.
All other traffic will be detoured around the area via Elliot Side Road (click here to see Detour Route). Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Hours of Work
Monday – Friday 7:00am – 7:00pm
Friday long weekend 7:00am – 12:00pm
The Trans-Canada Trail (Tay Trail) will remain open and accessible to the public during the temporary road closure.
Health & Safety
Construction involves the use of heavy equipment and the unavoidable creation of obstacles.
We ask that you take extra caution during the construction period to ensure everyone’s safety.
