Municipal Law Enforcement Summer Student

Council approved the hiring of one additional Municipal Law Enforcement Summer Student for the 2022 summer season. This hiring will help satisfy the operational needs of the division, the proposed schedule will also provide rotational coverage every weekend and throughout the week. The Township is actively recruiting for this position.

Installation of one permanent pickleball court at Bridgeview Park

Council approved the request by the Waubaushene Pickleball Group, for the installation of a new post and netting system for a one-year trial period on the mutli-use pad at Bridgeview Park. A group of pickleball players made a delegation to committee about the use of permanent nets at the March 9, 2022 Operational Services Committee Meeting indicating that the first year of their “Waubaushene Pickleball Program” at the outdoor rink site was a huge success. The post/nets will be removed for the winter ice season.

Building Condition Assessment - Bridgeview Park Portable

At the December 8, 2021 Operational Services Committee meeting Council received a report from the Waubaushene Community Space Ad-Hoc Committee recommending that staff undertake and document a formal assessment of the Bridgeview Park portable’s building condition, including a determination of the costs to repair or replace the building, ahead of the 2023 budget process, which will begin during the summer of 2022. Operational Staff carried out air quality and building condition assessments on the Bridgeview Park Portable to ensure that it can continue to be used by the community, they determined that the building is in sound condition for use by the public. As directed by Council, Township Staff will provide Council with costs to make ongoing repairs or replace the building, ahead of the 2023 budget process.

Congratulations Warm and Cozy Children’s Charity

Council congratulated the Warm and Cozy Children’s Charity members, Phyllis Stanley, Jo-Anne Granger, Rev. Lois Brown, Monika Milek-Hopkins, Kandace Jones, Mary Reynolds and Brian Stanley on receiving the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism. The group, who provide winter clothing to local children in need were honoured with the prestigious award back in early February 2022. Members of the group were virtually presented with certificates of congratulations from all of Council. June Callwood was a Canadian journalist, author and social activist, who committed her life to action on social justice issues. The Award recognizes people and groups who have made outstanding contributions as volunteers in their communities.

2022 Roads Program

Council accepted the tender for the 2022 Asphalt Paving tender from Georgian Paving for $1,001,943. The program is anticipated to include pulverizing of the existing surface, grading, additional granulars where required, paving or double surface treatment, ditching, and brushing of streets. The following streets are included in the 2022 Roads Program:
