Canine Control

We do not remove wildlife from private property. Property owners should contact a licensed pest control service to assist with the removal of wildlife, such as raccoons, skunks and foxes. If you or your pet has come in contact with a wild animal suspected of having rabies, seek medical attention and contact the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit at 705-721-7520.

Canine Control ensures a safe and healthy environment for both residents and animals in our Municipality. Our Canine Control Service is committed to keeping your pets safe, we have a Licensing Program that will help you reunite with your pet if it gets lost.

Tay Township requires proof of rabies vaccination to issue a dog licence.

It is a Provincial requirement that dogs and cats over three months old are vaccinated for rabies. Vaccinations will not only protect your pets from acquiring rabies, but will also help protect you and your family if your pet comes into contact with the saliva from a rabid wild animal.

Dog licences can be purchased in person at the Township office with a rabies vaccination certificate.

They can also be purchased by mail by filling out the application and submitting it along with proof of rabies vaccination to 450 Park Street, Victoria Harbour, ON L0K 2A0.

Tay Township has a limit of two dogs permitted per household.

Licensed Kennels are exempted from this rule.
