Water Rebates

To qualify, applicants must meet the following conditions:  

• The property must be in Tay Township and connected to the municipal sanitary sewer system.
• The application must be for an existing home. New homes are not eligible.
• Required work must be completed by a licensed contractor, where applicable.
• All work must comply with the Ontario Building Code. 

Eligible work must include:

• Disconnecting a roof leader or downspout from the sanitary sewer
  system.
• Disconnecting a sump pump from the sanitary sewer system.
• Installing proper drainage, such as a splash pad, to direct water away from the
  home.

Eligible costs may include:

• Contractor labour
• Materials
• Permit fees, if applicable
• Applicable taxes

The process for the Flood Prevention Assistance Program is simple, first you apply by submitting the application before starting any work. Secondly, a pre-inspection is arranged and conducted. Once the pre-inspection passes and the work is complete, you submit the second half of the application as well as any receipts or invoices relevant to all the work that has been completed and is outlined in the eligible works section of the program.  

Eligible homeowners may receive up to $1,500 per property to help cover approved labour, materials, permit fees and taxes. Funding is limited and available while funds remain. 

To qualify for the subsidy, the installer must be a member in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario. You can visit the Skilled Trades Ontario to verify the trade qualification status.  

The program will remain open for anyone connected to municipal sanitary sewer system on a first-come first-served basis while funds are available.
