Full-Time, Permanent Position

Tay Township, located on the sunset shores of Georgian Bay, is seeking an individual who thrives in a culture of change and progression to join #TeamTay as a Planner. We are looking for adaptability to our growing and evolving Municipality and demonstrated enthusiasm for positively impacting the Corporation and our Community as one.

Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Development Services, this position is responsible for providing technical advice, coordinating minor development applications, answering planning and development enquiries, assisting in the digital maintenance of records and planning-related information, and creating mapping, and visual diagrams. Other duties may include providing technical support in the preparation of the Official Plan and Zoning By-law, processing Ontario Land Tribunal appeals and completing preliminary zoning reviews and other technical planning-related projects. This position acts as Deputy Secretary-Treasurer to the Committee of Adjustment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Planning, Geography, or another relevant discipline from an accredited educational institution.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive planning and development experience, preferably in a municipal or public sector environment.
  • Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation or working towards membership with the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, and other relevant Provincial Legislation.

The compensation range for this full-time, permanent position is $37.45 to $43.82 per hour with a 35-hour work week. We also offer a comprehensive pension and benefit package (conditions may apply).
