Take Notice that the Council for The Corporation of the Township of Tay will be holding a Public Meeting electronically on June 22, 2022 at 6:30 PM to consider amendments to the Township’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law 2000-57, as amended pursuant to Section 17 and 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13 as amended. The Council Meeting will be streamed live via Zoom meetings at www.tay.ca/Meetings. Please note that there may be more than one public meeting and that the matter will be dealt with in the order it appears on the agenda.

The Purpose and Effect of the Proposed Official Plan Amendment: The proposal is to re-designate the subject lands from Institutional Designation to the Village Commercial Designation.

The Purpose and Effect of the Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment: The proposal is to re-zone the subject lands from the Institutional “I” Zone to the Village Commercial Exception “C1-*” Zone, which will permit a number of commercial uses as well as a service repair shop to occur on the subject lands.

Information Available: Pursuant to Section 17 (19.1) of the Planning Act, the proposed official plan amendment and zoning by-law amendment are part of the public record and are available to the public for inspection.  Any person wishing further information or clarification with regard to the proposal or to arrange to inspect the file should contact the Planning and Development Department at 705-534-7248 ext. 225.

Take Notice that any person may make a submission in support of or in opposition to the proposed Amendments to the Official Plan and Zoning By-law. ORAL AND WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS – APPEAL:

Please note that the County of Simcoe is the Approval Authority for Official Plan Amendments in The Township of Tay. 

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Township of Tay of before the proposed Official Plan Amendment is adopted the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of The Corporation of the County of Simcoe to the Ontario Land Tribunal; and, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party. 

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Corporation of the Township of Tay before the Zoning By-law Amendment is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Township of Tay to the Ontario Land Tribunal; and, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

Written comments that are submitted prior to 4:00pm on June 22nd, 2022, will be summarized at the public meeting and comments received after such time will be included in the recommendation report to Council.

All inquiries concerning the proposed amendments should be directed to the Planning Department. ANY PERSON may make verbal representation by participating in the ZOOM meeting or make written representation prior to the meeting. This representation can be in support of or in opposition to the proposed Official Plan Amendment and Zoning By-law Amendment.

If you are unable to make written submissions and therefore wish to make an oral statement during the meeting, you can do so by using the “raise hand” function on the Zoom Video call or on a dial pad of a phone by dialing *9 while connected to the meeting by telephone.

IF YOU WISH TO BE NOTIFIED of the adoption of the proposed Official Plan Amendment, or of the refusal of a request to amend the Official Plan, or the decision of The Corporation of the County of Simcoe, you must make a written request to: Clerk, County of Simcoe, Administration Centre, 1110 Highway 26, Midhurst, Ontario L9X 1N6.

IF YOU WISH TO BE NOTIFIED of the decision of The Township of Tay in respect of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment you must make a written request to: Planning Department, Township of Tay, , 450 Park Street, Victoria Harbour, Ontario L0K 2A0.
