Oakwood Community Centre open for shelter until power is restored in Waubaushene

Tay, Ontario: Power has been restored to Waubaushene as of 2:47 a.m. Saturday, November 2. Flooding has also receded in areas affected by flooding on November 1. As a result the Oakwood Community Centre warming centre shelter is now closed as of 7:30 a.m., November 2.

No further updates on these events are required.

November 1, 7:25 p.m.

Tay, Ontario: Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution advises that the power outage in Waubaushene is now expected to continue through the night into Saturday morning. Crews are working through the night to make repairs. The warming centre at Oakwood Community Centre will remain open throughout the night. Beds are being brought to Oakwood Community Centre for those needing a warm place to spend the night.

Tay, Ontario: Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution advises that the outage in Waubaushene is expected to continue through the evening and potentially passed midnight. As a result, Tay Township is keeping Oakwood Community Centre (290 Park Street, Victoria Harbour) open as a warming centre until power is restored.
