Proclamation National Public Works Week May 17-23, 2026

“Rooted in Service, Powered by Community”

WHEREAS, National Public Works Week (NPWW) is celebrated annually to recognize the significant impact of public works in our daily lives; and

WHEREAS, this year, from May 17 to May 23, 2026, we honour the dedicated professionals who contribute to enhancing the quality of life in our communities; and

WHEREAS, this year's theme “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community” acknowledges that the roots of service run deep in public works; and

WHEREAS, Public Works professionals play a vital role in our communities by planning, building, managing, and operating essential infrastructure including examples such as Road Maintenance (ensuring safe and efficient transportation networks), Water Services (providing clean water), Parks and Recreation Services and many other Infrastructure Projects.

THEREFORE, I urge all citizens to join in activities, events, and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, managers, and employees and to recognize the substantial contributions they make to protecting our health, safety, and advancing quality of life for all.

I, Ted Walker, Mayor of the Corporation of Tay Township hereby proclaim May 17-23, 2026, as National Public Works Week.
