Proclamation: Veteran's Week November 5-11 2023
WHEREAS Veterans’ Week is a time to honour Canadian veterans and soldiers made up of the young and old who share a common goal of keeping our country strong, proud and free;
AND WHEREAS Canada has a long history of providing military assistance in order to secure peace around the world;
AND WHEREAS Peace and Freedom are not just words, they are values and beliefs worthy of sacrifice yesterday, today and tomorrow;
AND WHEREAS Canadian sacrifice and valour will be remembered forever as a rich legacy of peace, freedom and identity;
NOW THEREFORE, to show support for our veterans and their families, I, Mayor Ted Walker, do hereby proclaim
November 5 to 11, 2023 as Veterans’ Week
in the Township of Tay and encourage residents to pause on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, to remember those who paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms and to support the Royal Canadian Legion and its programs by purchasing and wearing a poppy as a symbol of remembrance.
