Reminder: Changing Weather and Power Outage Preparedness
With the possibility of severe weather in our area today, September 2, 2026, residents are reminded to be prepared for changing weather conditions and the potential for power outages.
Severe weather can sometimes result in fallen trees and downed powerlines. Taking a few simple steps ahead of time can help you and your household stay safe and be prepared.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Monitor local weather forecasts and alerts.
- Keep mobile devices charged and have a portable power bank available, if possible.
- Have flashlights, a battery-powered or crank radio and extra batteries available.
- Keep an emergency preparedness kit with enough supplies for at least 72 hours, including food, water, medications and other household essentials.

Report a Power Outage
Depending on your electricity provider, outages can be reported using the following information:
NT Power
- Outage and emergency line: 1-888-735-4801
- Outage information and map are available through NT Power.
Hydro One
- Outage line: 1-800-434-1235
- Outages can also be reported online through Hydro One.
Residents are encouraged to know their electricity provider and keep outage contact information somewhere that can be accessed even if internet service is unavailable.
