Tay Township Closes Recreation Facilities as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19
Tay, Ontario – Effective immediately, as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and to protect vulnerable populations, Tay Township has made the difficult decision to close all Tay Township recreation facilities and cancel all recreation programs and facility rentals until further notice. Full refunds will be provided for any recreation programs or facility rentals affected by this closure.
It is anticipated that the closure of these municipal facilities will last at least as long as the Province of Ontario orders the closure of publicly funded schools.
Additionally, the Tay Township Public Library board has announced the closure of the Tay Township Public Library until further notice and at least as long as the publicly funded schools remain closed. Any changes to Library operations will be posted to their website at tay.ca/Library.
Mayor Ted Walker said “that while Tay Township prides itself in the reliable delivery of municipal services, Council and Township Administration believes it to be in the best interest of our community to temporarily suspend recreation programs and facility use to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the exposure inherent in large gatherings like our popular recreation programs.”
While the Tay Township municipal office currently remains open, the Township asks all visitors to use self-screening practices and to consider conducting their business either online or over the phone. Payments for tax and water bills can be made through your bank’s online banking or left in the drop box outside the municipal office.
