While water rates have remained the same in 2025 as they were in 2024, wastewater system users have seen a 4.038% increase to rates or $3.58/month for a single-family home.
“Council and staff have worked closely to craft a budget that meets the needs of our residents while maintaining fiscal responsibility,” said Mayor Ted Walker “We are confident this budget strikes the right balance, and we remain committed to finding efficiencies and innovative solutions to best serve our community.”
Budget Highlights
Municipal Building Assessments
Building condition assessments will be conducted at the Port McNicoll and Waubaushene Firehalls, Oakwood Community Centre and Tay Township Municipal Office. These evaluations will help identify maintenance needs, plan for future upgrades and extend the lifespan of these essential facilities, ensuring they remain safe, efficient and effective for residents.
Bunker Gear and Ice Water Rescue
To protect firefighters while they respond to emergencies, personal protective equipment, including bunker gear and ice water rescue suits, must be regularly replaced. Upgrading this gear ensures firefighters have the reliable, up-to-date protection they need to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Electronic Billing
Electronic billing for Water/Wastewater and Property Tax bills will be implemented, giving residents a convenient, paperless option. This new service will streamline bill delivery, reduce paper waste, and improve efficiency. More details on how to sign up will be shared as the system is rolled out.
Paved, Gravel, and Surface Treated Roads
Funding from the 2025 Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) and municipal taxation will support ongoing road maintenance, repairs and resurfacing across the Township. This investment will help improve road safety, extend pavement lifespan and ensure reliable infrastructure for residents and visitors.
Tay Township is committed to delivering responsive and cost-effective municipal services and infrastructure that provide for the long-term economic, social and environmental well-being of its residents and community.
