Tay, Ontario: At the May 22nd Regular Council meeting, Mayor Ted Walker presented a cheque in the amount of $14,000 to members of the Wye Marsh Board of Directors.

The funds were raised at the fourth annual Tay Township Fundraising Dinner in support of Wye Marsh held earlier this month at Oakwood Community Centre. The event featured live music by Dylan Lock, dinner prepared by ELM Catering, silent and live auctions, and a visit from some of Wye Marsh’s feathered friends—Wodin the snowy owl and JJ the spectacled owl.

“Tay Township is committed to helping conserve our natural heritage and resources,” said Mayor Ted Walker. Since 2016, the annual event raised over $40,000 for Wye Marsh. The funds will help the organization continue to be a centre of excellence for wetlands research, interpretation, and education based on the principle of stewardship and the importance of environmental awareness.

Tay Township recognizes and thanks community volunteers and supporters, including platinum supporters Enbridge Gas Inc. and Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution.
