Tay Township Receives Ice Storm 2025 Recovery Grant from Hydro One

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

Tay, Ontario – Tay Township is among 50 communities selected to receive a Hydro One 2025 Ice Storm Recovery Grant. Announced on June 16, 2025, the grants will support local recovery efforts following the devastating ice storm that struck Ontario this spring. Tay Township will receive $10,000 to support recovery initiatives.  

“We are incredibly thankful to Hydro One for their generous support of Tay Township’s ongoing recovery initiatives following the spring ice storm,” said Mayor Ted Walker. “We also want to express our sincere appreciation to the crews and partners who worked tirelessly to restore power under extremely difficult conditions, their dedication was essential to helping our community recover.” 

The 2025 ice storm caused severe and widespread damage with three days of ice accumulation causing uprooted trees, downed lines and more than 2,700 broken poles across the province. Hydro One crews, alongside 30 Canadian utility partners and contractors, worked through extremely challenging conditions to restore power. Several municipalities and Indigenous communities declared states of emergency and cleanup efforts continue in many areas.
