April 17 to 22 is Community Clean-up week in Tay Township! 

Join this year’s effort to help keep Tay Township litter-free. Community Clean up days begin on April 17 and run until Earth Day April 22. 

It’s an opportunity for all residents to get involved in #TeamTay and help clear litter and debris from public spaces around the Township. 

Residents can pick-up pitch-in bags from the Municipal Office during regular business hours Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our amazing Tay Township Operations Team will also pick up full bags of garbage from community groups who want to organize a clean-up event! Date: Wednesday April 19  

Time: 4:30pm to 5:30pm 

Location: Outside the Municipal Office at 450 Park Street, Victoria Harbour  

Gloves and bags will be provided, pick-up locations will be around the Municipal Office building, along Park Street to Oakwood Community Centre.

Safety Tips: 

  • Please do not go outside to clean in inclement weather such as thunder/lightning, high winds etc. 
  • Please stay off private property.  
  • Please avoid potential dangers such as railway tracks, rivers, river banks and road ways. 
  • Please do not pick up dangerous objects such as broken glass, needles, sharp objects or dead animals. If you come across any of these items please leave them where you found them and email recreation@tay.ca with their location so they can be disposed of safely.    
  • All children participating under the age of 12 should be supervised by an adult.  
  • Ensure you wear gloves while picking up waste.  
  • Avoiding touching your face at all times.  
  • When you are finished cleaning, dispose of your gloves in the garbage bag provided and immediately wash or sanitize your hands. It would be a good idea to bring hand sanitizer with you and then wash your hands when you return home.
