Canada Post Strike Update

Canada Post has announced that operations will begin restarting on December 17, 2024, with delivery delays expected to continue into January 2025. While mail service resumes, residents are reminded that property tax and water/wastewater bills are still due on their regular due dates.

To ensure timely payments and avoid late fees, Tay Township offers several secure and convenient options, which are listed below.

As of Friday November 15, 2024, Canada Post workers are on strike. Canada Post operations have been shut down and mail service has stopped.

Residents are still obligated to pay property tax and water/wastewater bills, by the due date. To avoid late fees, interruptions, or delays, Tay Township has several options available for making payments promptly and securely.

  1. Pre-Authorized Payment Plans: Sign up for pre-authorized payments for taxes and water/wastewater billing. Forms are available at the Municipal Office or on our website.
  2. Telephone and Online Banking: Payments can be made through most major financial institutions. For tax accounts, enter your 19-digit roll number (no spaces/dashes) and for water/wastewater accounts, enter the 8-digit account number (omit decimal).
  3. In Person: Payments can be made at the Tay Municipal Office (450 Park Street, Victoria Harbour) via cash, cheque (payable to Tay Township), debit card, or money order. Please note: credit cards are not accepted for in-person payments.
  4. Online Credit Card Payments: Payments can also be made online by credit card through Paymentus Corporation, a third-party service. Please note: service fees apply—2.5% for VISA/MasterCard, or 1.5% for VISA Debit/MasterCard Debit. Processing may take 2-3 business days. Pay Online by Credit Card.
  5. After-Hours Drop Box: Cheques, along with your payment stub, can be placed in the After Hours Drop Box, located to the right of the front doors at the Municipal Office. Please do not place cash in the drop box.
