Collect, protect and drop off your used batteries at the Tay Township Municipal Office
Tay Township has opted into Call2Recycle®, Canada's free battery collection and recycling program.
You can find these Call2Recycle boxes inside the Tay Township Municipal Office. You can drop your batteries off during business hours (8:30 am. to 4:30 pm).
What happens to a recycled battery? The recycled materials that come from batteries are used to manufacture new products such as: New Batteries, Sunscreen, Stainless Steel Pots and Pans, Golf Clubs, Silverware, and Asphalts for Roads - Plus, the batteries are kept out of landfills!
Types of batteries accepted:
- Nickel Cadmium/Nickel Metal Hydride commonly found in cordless power tools, cellphones, cordless phones, digital/video cameras, and two-way radios.
- Alkaline is commonly found in alarm clocks, calculators, flashlights, and TV remotes.
- Lithium is commonly found in laptop computers, cellphones, cordless power tools.
- Small, sealed lead acid is commonly found in mobility scooters and fire emergency devices.
Call2Recycle will NOT accept these batteries:
- Batteries weighing more than 5 kgs
- Wet cell batteries (composed of a liquid), such as car or boat batteries
- Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries over 300-watt hours
- Lithium primary batteries with over 25 grams of lithium content
- Any batteries that do not fit in a Call2Recycle collection box
