Municipal Class Environmental Study for the Replacement of Old Fort Road (Simcoe County Road 58) Overhead Bridge (Simcoe Structure #058086)
THE PROJECT
The County of Simcoe is proposing to replace Old Fort Road (Simcoe County 58) Overhead Bridge over the Tay Shore Trail (abandoned CN Railway Line) approximately 300 m south of Highway 12 in the Township of Tay (see Key Map). The existing bridge is nearing the end of its service life, with major components exhibiting signs of corrosion and deterioration – replacement is required.
THE STUDY PROCESS
The study is being conducted in accordance with a Schedule B Municipal Class EA process to consider associated impacts with replacement alternatives. The outcome of the study identified three (3) alternatives to replace the existing bridge: Option 1 Single-span Bridge, Option 2 Tunnel Structure and Option 3 At-grade Crossing. The result of the evaluation determined that the Single-span Bridge option was the technically preferred alternative to replace the existing bridge.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
The purpose of this virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) is to provide advisement to area residents, stakeholders, businesses and agencies of the planned study and design. The Project Team is interested in obtaining your comments regarding existing conditions in the area or questions regarding the proposed design and/or planned future construction activities. If you wish to comment on this study, have your name added to the project mailing list or have any questions about this study, please contact one of the Project Team members identified below.
