Tay Community Rink Opens November 15, 2021

Tay, Ontario: The Tay Community Rink, located at 560 Calvert Street in Port McNicoll will open on Monday November 15, 2021 for public and private bookings. In order to comply with Ontario regulations related to COVID-19, while maximizing the utilization of the rink facility, proof of vaccination will be required for anyone over 12 years of age.

The Township recognizes the importance of physical activity for overall well-being and mental health, and appreciates the need for the community to be able to access recreational facilities and activities within their community, including the Tay Community Rink.

In consultation with the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen and the COVID-19 Public Health Guidance for Outdoor Recreational Amenities set out by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unitstaff will be checking proof of vaccination (ie. proof of identity and vaccine receipt or enhanced COVID-19 vaccine certificate with QR code) upon entry to the rink.

The online booking portal at tay.ca/rinks will open on Monday November 8, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. for those interested in booking private ice rentals, or to view the schedule for open free public skating and shinny. You can also book your spot by visiting our Municipal Office during regular business hours Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m.

Participants are also asked to review the following additional information:

  • Participants must complete COVID-19 screening questions upon arrival, in addition to showing proof of vaccination, for every visit to the facility.
  • Please arrive no more than 20 minutes before your scheduled rental time or free public skating/shinny time.
  • A 20 minute buffer will be made between rentals to provide Staff proper time for cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Shower use is available for private bookings.
  • Masks or face coverings must be worn by everyone entering the facility and may only be removed by participants for on-ice activities.
