Tay Township finalizes agreement with Ontario Clean Water Agency
Tay, Ontario: Tay Township Council has finalized an agreement with the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), who will provide operations, maintenance and management of water and wastewater treatment facilities, as well as collection and distribution systems, in Tay Township effective November 1, 2021.
The agreement was finalized at the October 14, 2021 Special Council meeting. Council and Staff evaluated a proposal presented by OCWA on July 28, 2021 from a capabilities, cost and operational efficiency perspective and determined that engaging OCWA, an agency of the Province of Ontario, for the operation and maintenance of Tay Township’s water and wastewater services would ensure that the Township’s excellent operational record continues. At the same time, the Township will take advantage of OCWA’s scale and depth of knowledge to increase efficiencies and realize the best value from our water and wastewater assets, ensuring the continued safety and sustainability of our systems, as our community continues to grow.
“We would like to thank the Tay Township Water/Wastewater Operators for the work and commitment to the service they provided to the Township and wish them the best as they transition in their careers to OCWA” said Mayor Walker, “From a Township perspective this provides long term assurance of an important service to our residents.” Tay Township Water/Wastewater Operators will transition to OCWA and will officially join their team on November 1, 2021 and will continue to work at Tay Township Water and Wastewater Treatment Facilities and out in our community.
Residents should not notice any changes in the day-to-day aspects of the delivery of water and wastewater services. The Township will maintain complete ownership and control of the systems at all times.
