Tay Township raises $9,200 in support of Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre

Tay Township ON: At the June 28th Regular Council meeting, Mayor Scott Warnock presented a cheque in the amount of $9,200 to Sean Diening, President of the Wye Marsh Board of Directors and Tracey Patterson, Volunteer and Event Coordinator.

“Tay Township is committed to helping conserve our natural heritage and resources,” said Mayor Scott Warnock. The funds raised at the 2nd Annual Tay Township Wye Marsh Fundraising Dinner will help the organization continue to be a centre of excellence for wetlands research, interpretation, and education based on the principle of stewardship and the importance of environmental awareness.

Nearly 270 tickets were sold for the May 12 event that took place at Oakwood Community Centre. The fundraising dinner featured live music by Adrien Robitaille, dinner prepared by ELM Catering, and a visit from some of Wye Marsh’s feathered friends.

Tay Township recognizes and thanks community volunteers and supporters, including platinum and silver supporters Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution, C.C. Tatham & Associates Ltd., County of Simcoe, TD Commercial Banking, and Waste Connections of Canada, and many bronze, community, and in-kind supporters.

Mark your calendar for the 3rd Annual Tay Township Wye Marsh Fundraising Dinner on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Oakwood Community Centre (290 Park Street, Victoria Harbour).
