By-law Enforcement

Tay Township strives to make our community safe, healthy and enjoyable for everyone through proactive By-law Enforcement Services.

The Township of Tay Municipal Law Enforcement Department is responsible for the enforcement of the Township's By-laws and to ensure a safe, quiet and enjoyable community for all residents. The Departments intent is to enforce the by-laws equitably and to apply the level of enforcement that best fits the type of by-law violation and the circumstances surrounding it.

Non-Urgent Complaints (online)

Example: Noxious weeds, clean yards, property standards.

If a violation is not taking place right now, please use Report A Problem. Online complaints are not monitored 24 hrs a day. If the violation may be over by the time an officer sees your complaint, please follow the urgent complaint process below.

Urgent Complaints (phone)

Examples: Fire infraction, excessive noise, illegal parking, canine control.

If a violation is taking place right now, the best way to deal with your concern in a prompt manner is a phone call to (705) 534-7248 and press "2" for by-law. An officer will be assigned to gather evidence on the issue.

Our By-law Officers require contact information for follow-up, or, depending on the nature of the offence, to provide evidence and/or to appear as a witness in any court proceeding pertaining to the complaint made. Please note that incomplete forms will not be investigated.  Your information will be kept confidential.
